10.  Ski masks and gloves - if you need to rob something, you're ready

9.  Everyone is bundled up, so you can more easily avoid that guy you hooked up with at the frats last weekend

8.  Ice skating in Clayton or Forest Park

7.  It's less lame that you only leave the library once every three days

WashU goes broke??

WashU goes broke??

This morning, Chancellor Wrighton sent out a letter to the WU community. It started out innocuous - about the Thanksgiving holiday and the importance of sharing if you are able.

Then he suckerpunched us in the back of the head.

Some highlights:

* Since July 1, the value of the endowment has declined approximately 25%.

* What the University h...

It's That Time!

It's That Time!
Today students had the rare pleasure of seeing the leaves drop from the Ginkgo trees behind Eads, between Olin and Duncker/Ridgely. Though when the females trees drop fruit they create a horrendous smell, it is amazing to watch the leaves change from green to gold in a short amount of time in the fall.

Then - all at once, sometimes overnight -

Late Registration

Late Registration

Today many seniors registered for the last time (*tear), and the rest of the week everyone else will be trying to get into the coolest sounding classes and attempting to find easier, more 'fun' ones as well.

Some general reminders for registration:

* Use the registration worksheet.  It's there for a reason, and it helps you register faster.

Monday was the bi-annual Locks of Love hair drive in the DUC Fun Room. D-Zine (salon on the Loop) provided stylists from 10 to 6 giving free haircuts (if you donated to LoL) and $20 haircuts otherwise.

What constitutes a nice day shifts down about 20 degrees, and all...

Pictures: “Remember the Troops” and Moving Election ’08 Artwork displays

Tuesday night will no doubt be a defining moment in the lives of people across the country, across the world. For WU students, it will probably become a “flashbulb” memory – a time you remember forever, every little detail burned into your brain and memory because of the ...

Virgin Voting!

Virgin Voting!

Today, for the first time, I (like many of my peers across the nation) voted for the first time in a presidential election. Since I had class from 10 to 4, and was afraid of there being long lines in the evening, I decided to go exercise my civic duty first thing in the morning. I also didn’t sleep very much the night before (a mix of doing ho...
