OBAMA: The Mockumentaryveblen (Penn State)

There is no about me text for this user.Hey, Sarah Palin Hates Graham Spanier Too

Evidence for another plausible explanation for Old Main going public with this story came to light today. Bill Clinton appeared at Penn State the day after the GILF and, according to the Collegian, Graham attended that rally. In fact, he sat with a couple of local Democratic politicians. My guess is that he told his story to these pols and they either encouraged him to go public or they tipped off the media.
Even if this is the case, I still contend that Graham would never have gone public with this story if McCain were winning.

Com'on Ha-mace own up to it. You might hate everybody but you hate conservatives more. Posted 10/31/2008 09:56 AM

Hey, Sarah Palin Hates Graham Spanier Too

When was the GILF put in charge of the Coast Guard? Is Admiral Thad W. Allen aware of this?

Hey, Sarah Palin Hates Graham Spanier Too

Now, I'm no Palin fan and I'm not about to vote for John McCain, but I think you, half the liberal blogsphere, are missing the point on this story.
Old Main claims that they tried to diffuse the situation by not pushing for a meeting between Spanier and Palin after they were rebuffed. But, they turn around and talk to the media which, in fact, has the effect opposite to defusing the situation. Why?
I can only speculate, but I see three possibilities.
First, Spanier has been getting cozy with the Bush administration. He's carried water for Gates on Minerva and he's sitting on the FBI's national security board. Now its pretty clear that Obama will win next week and Spanier want to make an opening with the new guy on the block.
Second, Spanier's massive ego was bruised and he lashed out.
These are not mutual exclusive possibilities, but I assure you that if Graham thought for a moment that McCain could win he'd have kept quite no matter how badly his feelings were hurt.
Third, Graham's just started blogging over at CHE. This indicates to me that he's decided to reach out to the netroots. What better way to get their attention than to slam McCain.
The truth is with Spanier everything is calculated. He's no better than McCain. Posted 10/30/2008 8:49 PM

Penn State Trading Cards Feature Faculty Members

Gee it sure did take you a long time to get around to this story. And when you did all, all you did was summarize a press release.
I was all over this story weeks ago. The irony is that that idea of faculty trading cards originated in a couple of satires of the corporate university.
So, as I've long said, Spanier is a joke.

Penn State Ranks High As "Party School," Other Things

Gee anonymous number two, what's your story? My first thought was that the Penn State Grassroots Network must hand out serious swag to people that make positive comments about Penn State on blogs and message boards. But since you are anonymous, they wouldn't know whose account to credit. Perhaps then you just work for the Old Main propaganda shop, so you don't get paid by the piece.
As far as job placement goes, every machine needs cogs and Penn State makes them by the box load. It's some assembly line. Posted 08/07/2008 10:51 PM

Penn State Ranks High As "Party School," Other Things

Shameless blogwhoring warning!
I wrote a couple of posts on this ranking today. Who didn't?
Here are the links.

http://thorsteinveblen.blogspot.com/2008/07/well-that-was-quick.html
In first post, I noted that the Old Main propaganda shop is critical of Princeton Review rankings when they don't fit in with their marketing plan, but they pimp the rankings on their Web site when it fits in. In the third post, I note that they scrubbed the Web site after my first post.
To bad Princeton Review doesn't have a category for "School With Least Scrupulous Administrators", Penn State would clean up. Posted 07/29/2008 7:54 PM

If It Drinks Like A Frat ...

Okay, I'll play. The guy on the right is holding the urine sample the guy on the left just gave. Am I right? Posted 07/19/2008 10:58 PM
If It Drinks Like A Frat ...

Good post Ha-Mace.
When I read the letter this morning, my first thought was that this guy didn't come up with this on his own. Sure enough.....
Dr. Baker discussed risk management issues as well as the responsibility of fraternity members at Penn State to act like Fraternity men, not “frat boys”.

The Amazing Exploding Toilets of State College

The superlanky, bespectacled Alex comes up with a first-person sports story in the show in which he participates in football practice. Nerd-teasing ensues, but no serious injuries. Alex, by the way, will attend Penn State in the fall to study sports journalism.

According to this article, Alex's last name is Augert. Just in case you want to check the directory come Fall. Posted 07/16/2008 1:35 PM

Hey, Even The Mascots At PSU Have Drinking Problems
I think this explains a whole lot about the Nittany Lion's DUI arrest.

And as far as the picture you've posted goes, I don't think it was Sheep in the costume. My guess is that it was this guy.

Finally, did you know the Graham now has a blog?
