Dude Where's Our Stairs?

Dude Where's Our Stairs?
When you start moving in on Tuesday, don't try the quad side steps on any quad dorms ... because there aren't any.

New steps and doors are being worked on for Strong, Lathrop, Raymond, and Davison, but in typical Vassar fashion, they won't be done until the end of October break.  Who's got bets for first person to drunkenly break through the bo

More Than Just Co-House Fellows?

More Than Just Co-House Fellows?
So not only are English Professors Eve Dunbar and Kiese Laymon probably dating, but they are also living together in Jewett!  Both are House Fellows, living on opposite sides of the first floor.

Everyone knows you shouldn't live near your significant other, but will one dorm contain these two?  Keep an eye out for which exit they leave out of f

We're Movin' On Up!

We're Movin' On Up!
Remember the previous post about Cappy's distrust of college rankings?  Well let's forget about those days, because Vassar just moved up to the 11th spot in the upcoming edition of US News & World Report!

Tying with 4 other schools (including Wesleyan), Vassar seems to be on its way to cracking the top ten.  Which is great for all those kids ne

According to the Vassar Network discussion board on facebook, this guy wants to know if there are parties that involve dancing but no drinking.

Yeah, there are those parties, but they all require you to wear a shirt and get your hand out of your pants.  So no, you aren't invited.  A lot more time to watch your favorite The George Lopez Show epi

This Heat's Making Me Crabby.

It's been pretty slow on the Vassar news and after reading facebook status after status, I think I'm the only person who isn't building a house in Guam or vacationing up at Martha's Vineyard.  That being said, I needed a hit of Vassar, and YouTube had me covered.

Just imagine those Nilda's with limited edition baby advice.  Flash mobs.  Betty.

More Problems With Mails On Campus

More Problems With Mails On Campus
A wise man once said,"When you control the mail, you control...information!"

Well Bret Ingerman (The Geek), Vice President for Computing and Information Services, wants to control Vassar webmail.  The numerous emails sent out explaining the new email system only seem to confuse me, and his assertion that the new system test went too well is sho

Baby On Board

Baby On Board
Aw this is the type of story that makes you proud to be an American.

A conductor helped deliver a baby on a July 6th run on the Metro North rail line.  He apparently decided to keep an eye on her because of how pregnant she looked (he <3's preggos), and she decided a train to Poughkeepsie was a great place for a birth.

Ok, it's great that peop

Junior Katherine Straus has hit the big time by making southcoasttoday.com's website.  Apparently she likes the Simple Life (farm, not Hilton) enough to even be an Environmental Studies major!

Hopefully she'll put all of her knowledge of soil to good use and really make a product Vassar kids need.

A popular band coming to the Chance?!

A popular band coming to the Chance?!
Shocking, yes.

Against Me! will be playing at The Chance Theater September 4th.  With a new cd out getting some pretty good reviews (4.5 from Spin?), maybe this shows that The Chance is going to bring relevant acts to Poughkeepsie.

Or maybe this is an anomaly between Jethro Tull tribute bands and really shitty metal.
