Bio

"Swaggering, but not self-righteous." This phrase is how I always begin these Internet bios. After all, it's the nicest thing that anyone has ever said about me. Aside from swaggering about campus for four years, I worked on Hermes Magazine at Wesleyan. I helped organize Food Not Bombs (shameless plug: FNB meets Sundays 11:30 AM outside St. Vincent DePaul's on Main and Liberty streets). I was a co-coordinator for Waste Not!, Wesleyan's Spring semester donation and tag sale program. Following sophomore year, I made a film entitled "Operation Ivy: Dumpster Diving at Elite Colleges" with some other Wesleyan students, which you can see on Current TV. ---- http://current.com/items/88142981_operation_ivy_dumpster_diving_at_elite_colleges ---- In Spring '08 I took one of the coolest classes ever taught at Wesleyan: Activism and Outreach Through Theater. The service-learning component of the class entails going to the Connecticut Juvenile Training School to do theater lessons/workshops with the incarcerated teenagers there. It'll be offered next Spring too. Check it out!

What's Cookin' with Alum Talia Barrett '08?

What's Cookin' with Alum Talia Barrett '08?

Answer: Let's just say it's gettin' hot in Talia's kitchen these days. A recent alum who majored in Sociology, Talia Barret '08 is doing what a good many of us weird Wesleyan kids do upon graduating: Toss the degree in the drawer, dream up a bold, new plan, and get cookin'!

Talia is in dogged pursuit of her new goal to start up a business teac...

Latest comment by Anonymous: you could try a name like top chef academy for kids or something to do with cooking reality tv as so many people follow top chef. you could probably get them to talk about it on the show eventually to increase exposure

AIDtoCHILDREN.com is a dual-purpose site for building an English vocabulary and raising money for under privileged children in the most impoverished places around the world.

Awesome! Musicians! BELLY BOAT!

Belly Boat is comprised of Silvie Margot-Deutsch '09 and her best friend who plays the accordion and goes to some other school that is not Wesleyan and so must be ignored. Just kidding, her very marvelous name is Zoe Ruth Cusmus Latta and she's really neat from what I remember. Only met her a couple times after shows at Wesleyan. But the point i...

Awesome! Wesleyan Musicians: Max, Ben, Jacob

Their summer tour was made up of three solo performers including Max Horwich '08, Ben Seretan '10, and Jacob Milstein '09. Max told me in an email earlier this summer that each performed their "own material, sometimes alone and sometimes supported by the other two."

Center for Social Justice to Open at Wesleyan!

Wesleyan has finally found a good use for the huge, abandoned building in the center of campus, home to the previous campus center before that monstrosity Usdan came along last year. The Davenport Campus Center is slated to become Wesleyan's new Center for Social Justice. Last semester an opening was held to inform students about the building's ...
