The Marine Protests Appear to Have Reached an Epilogue
sunshinethewerewolf says,
lets assume everything you said is true, which i do, and im not doubting your source of information.
My point is that there is no direct, absolute link between protesting marine recruiting and being communist. yeah, some members of the cause have radical leftist leanings, but it is not a necessary association. one can protest the war without ever, ever declaring communist affiliations, which applies to the majority of protesters and members of city council. thats like calling the republican party a bunch of tax frauds and sexual deviants: a couple bad apples should not ruin the identity of a general group.
the republican party of today would be completely unrecognizable to its founders (i believe Griz from 30 Rock said the same thing...).
Case 1: the republican party was born from the ashes of the whig party, which borrows its name from the "liberal" british counterpart.
Case 2: notice that the majority of northern and north-east states who voted republican in the days of the 13th -15th amendments now all vote democrat (except ohio that one time we really needed it...).
Case 3: Talk to any US historian and he or she will point to the reversal of party platforms, roughly when johnson passed the civil rights act. There is no way to look at american political history and not notice the switching in roles. you can argue that the context has changed, but when your party continues to nominate supreme court justices who still believe brown v. board of education is wrong, i wouldnt bother.
final point: son (or daughter, but that sounds weird), this is a college blog. No one comes here looking for political ammunition. If you want to carry out this argument I will give you my email, but i want to spare the viewing public from these kinds of online debates.

The Marine Protests Appear to Have Reached an Epilogue
but the point is, do you really have to bombard this apolitical blog with your viewpoints? do you have some innate desire to explain the crap out of a simple remark? do you need to assert your intellectual dominance on everybody who might be reading?
i consider this a pretty lost cause, we dont really care for your perspective here.
thanks tallblonde.
