Arizona State Goes Solar

Arizona State Goes Solar

Arizona State prepares to undertake one of the largest solar energy projects in the United States. Forbes reports that ASU will start installing the solar panels in early August, so students can expect to have the earth's star pumping a little less than 10% of the university's energy needs.

The plan is to renovate the whole campus, at some point, to reduce the carbon imprints across the board. The hope is to increase solar power use up to 20%.

The climate in Tempe, Arizona is the perfect place to begin a project of this nature. In such a dry, sunny area, the panels will be an amazing addition to the campus and the university will garner praise for its concerns with sustainability.

Much like everyone else in 2008, ASU has jumped on the "Go Green" campaign. Let's see how this solar plan pans out. Hopefully, it will do more good than harm.
