When you graduate high school, the usual path is college and a career (rinse a repeat one or two of the steps before ascertaining the intended final result). However some people make a different turn.

This summer I got Facebook invited to one of my good friends from high school's after wedding party. My immediate reaction was "Sally*!!! Married?!?! But she and Derek* have been really on-and-off with their relationship." So I called another good friend, who is dating Derek's brother and has the dirt, to find out whether or not this is a joke and just a theme party, or the real deal. She confirms, Sally and Derek are getting married.

But that's not all... Sally, a year out of high school, and Derek, a year from graduating college, have procreated. The beautiful, healthy girl, Alexa* was born earlier this week. Reality shock!

So my intended "moral" more or less is that whether we want it to be or not, the real world really is creeping up right behind us. Soon all of the frat parties, sorority drama, and quirky professors will soon be a memory, or for some of us, interrupted, by real life. Ready or not, here it comes.
