Who has two thumbs and got turned away from Oliver Sack's lecture on music and creativity? Um, a s***load of people. Students, professors, even deans (!) stood in line to enter the MPR room in the College Avenue Student Center. The queue first extended out of the room, but quickly lengthened down the hall, out the door, and then half way around the block. It was like standing in a ration line, except for quirky, intellectual food for thought.

Rutgers loves Oliver Sacks. His books are assigned across the spectrum of majors that ranges from science to liberal arts. Even in Expository Writing, disgruntled freshmen are forced to write convoluted essays about his work (and sadly, for many, Oliver Sacks is permanently ruined through Expos). What is truly puzzling is why his popularity was so miscalculated, which directly led to placing him in the puny MPR room when there are massive lecture halls all over Rutgers that could have held all of his admirer.
