With a majority of the semester behind us but still a daunting stretch to go, many students find themselves at a loss for things to pass the time. Many freshmen and sophomores find themselves with large holes in their ‘perfectly planned’ schedules. For reasons ranging from unexpected drops to skipping ‘that one class I really should go to,’ many days are wasted.
Whatever reason there is for this downtime, much of it could be spent productively or unproductively but enjoyably. While not attending class, here are some suggestions for time killers on campus:
Join a student group or club: Any organization with involved members would LOVE to suck up all of your time. Whether it be writing stories and press releases to drafting and handing out fliers, there is no end to what a passionate group could have you do.
Be one of 'those guys’: No campus is complete without the peripheral characters that everybody sees, yet no one notices. Sit on the steps of the library and discuss philosophy over lunch or start a hacky sack circle.
Become a soap box orator: C’mon, you’re in college. Where else do you have a venue to pass as crazy and still be justified in your actions?
Head to the games center: You know your tuition probably went into building the bowling alley. You may as well get your money’s worth.
Whatever you choose to do with your time, remember that you’re probably paying loads to attend college. Try to justify those expenditures with something to put on a resume or at least something memorable.
Meanwhile, I’ve got the new Futurama movie, Bender’s Game, and Resistance 2 to occupy me. Good luck catching me out of my room for a few days.
