Harvard Graduate Students Robbed at Gunpoint

Is Cambridge, Massachusetts no longer safe for students?

In the last two weeks, four students – a Boston University woman and three Harvard graduate students – have been robbed near Harvard University. While the incidents are unrelated, students should avoid travelling in the area at night whenever possible.

The most recent incident, involving two graduate students, occurred at 1:20 a.m. Saturday morning near Cambridge Rindge and the Latin High School.

The Harvard Crimson reports:

The two victims reported that they were approached by an unknown individual who displayed a handgun and demanded their wallets at approximately 1:20 a.m., according to the advisory. The victims gave up their wallets and a cell phone before the individual fled the area. HUPD officers responded to a call placed by the victims. Neither student was injured during the incident. They described the assailant as a heavy-set white male in his thirties with slight facial stubble. He was wearing a dark gray hooded sweatshirt.

Anyone with information pertaining to this or any other crime should contact the Harvard Police Department immediately, and until they apprehend the culprit, students should avoid coming into close contact with anyone matching the assailant’s description.

In fact, just stay on-campus where it's safe.
