So, I was just in the process of writing my September 11th memories and my browser crashed. I was about three quarters of the way through my rather long and emotional weightyaccount when it happened, and I just can't see subjecting myself to retelling the taxing story.
Thinking about how stressful it can be to recount the day, I can't help but think how this day must stand out as particularly gloomy to many of those who have felt the effects of 9/11 more directly.
The events of that dark day sent a number of my family members to distant reaches of the United States; far away from New York City, where seven years ago today they witnessed or were directly apart of the tragedy.
I'll always remember that day. I'll remember hearing in lunch that, "a plane crashed into some building." At one point in my life, September 11th was a day that always stood out as the birthday of one of my closest childhood friends, but since that day seven years ago it has taken on much more significance.
I'll always remember that feeling of not quite understanding just what had happened, because it was too real. It was too much and rather than being able to process it, I looked at it as something that was beyond my grasp. It almost didn't seem real.
I wish that my browser had not crashed, but maybe it's for a good reason. I'm sure you all have your own stories, and the last thing you need is one more sad story, so instead I'll leave you with my brief reflection.
