Smoking Out the Truth

Smoking Out the Truth
BU prof Michael Siegel is calling out the Truth campaign for being the annoying ****s we all thought they were. Apparently, multiple anti-smoking groups claimed that 30 minutes of second-hand smoke exposure could lead to deadly heart episodes in completely healthy non-smokers.

Siegel disproved these claims by using science, and, you know, basic logic.

He insists that he wants to invalidate such crap so that anti-smoking campaigns don’t lose their integrity. However, he may have a more personal stake in the matter.

While in the Free Press article Siegel is calm, collected and righteous, he really lets his inner-emo-12-year-old-girl loose on his blog, getting all pissy defending statements made against him:

“First, I have never claimed not to be stupid. In fact, I readily admit that I am, in fact, quite stupid. Just last week in fact I searched for well over 30 minutes to find my car after work, only to remember just before calling the police to report my stolen car that I had taken public transportation to work that day... So I readily admit my stupidity.”

It’s nice to know that the politics of public health in this country have not evolved beyond the middle school level. In the meantime, you don’t have to worry about getting seated in the smoking section anymore! Actually, you already didn't have to worry about getting seated in the smoking section since there are no smoking sections anymore.
