Ted Kennedy is Too Good for Boston

Ted Kennedy is Too Good for Boston
We were all thinking it but now we finally have some answers.

Why did Kennedy snub his hometown of Boston and decide to have his brain-cancer surgery at Duke? Our medical facilities are far superior to the crap they’ve got down South.

Aside from the incredible Massachusetts General Hospital and the Dana-Farber Institute, Kennedy could have looked into the renowned medical schools at Harvard, Tufts and BU.

Well, according to yesterday’s Boston Herald, the Senator’s nagging wife “favored Dr. Allan Friedman’s ‘aggressive’ approach to fighting brain tumors, and had a personal ‘comfort level’ with the Duke surgeon after extensive meetings last week at MGH.”

Oh really Vicki?
If you like North Carolina so much why don’t you pack up and head down there?

I don’t understand how this woman thinks she’ll succeed in the Senate if she keeps snubbing Massachusetts.

Get some Boston pride lady. Take care of your own at home.

If I was getting brain surgery for a seemingly hopeless tumor, I'd want the absolute best treatment performed by the doctor I'm most comfortable with. I don't blame him at all, I'd totally throw Bostonian loyalties out the window in matters of brain surgery. Posted 06/04/2008 12:46 PMReply

Do you now read the minds of your dead family? I say God Bless the family for allits tragic things,God bless them because they tried to do something besides bash and judge people. No such thing as a good Kennedy. What kind of "perversities" does my family have? Well, we've never smuggled anything. And certainly never killed anybody. Posted 06/05/2008 10:24 AMReply

This is one of the most ignorant things I've ever read in my life. A brain tumor is not politics, this is life and death and Dr. Friedman is the best in the world. Not only is he intelligent and compassionate he has a reputation for the "best hands" in surgery, which is not something anyone can teach no matter how good the school. This is so important in resecting a tumor like Kennedy's and can be the difference between life and death if the surgeon doesn't get out as much as possible. I would know, my mom is at Duke for the same tumor as Kennedy's; their rooms are on the same hall. And don't ever put down the South again you vapid ignorant yankee. Posted 06/05/2008 12:10 PMReply

Agreed, if this site had any integrity they would take this post down. I certainly will never look at it again. Posted 06/06/2008 9:23 PMReply

this is, unfortunately, a lazy post...i sympathize--i used to be an otr blogger in the summer. a word to the wise for you to probably ignore: drop the sardonic bullshit they tell you you have to inject into every post, and treat some issues (like the deadly illness of a beloved hometown politician) with seriousness and reverence. you can even stick in something comical, if you just get a bit creative. a "teddy had surgery in nc yesterday. while it makes our hearts ache just a tad that he snubbed mgh for some southern hotshot, we wish the senator and his whole family well."
