Election time is full of news, and it's important, but the consequences of voting will take a while to come to fruition.
One bit of election news that may be more relevant for Massachusetts residents is the status of Question 2.
It's not yet final, but it's looking like Question 2 is going to pass in Massachusetts. All of the votes have not been tallied, but as of 9:50 PM, the polls are showing Question 2 dominating 65% Yes to 35% No.
For stoners everywhere, it's time to rejoice. What this means is that if you are caught with less than an ounce of marijuana, you will receive a civic citation, meaning that your offense won't go on your record. When you're applying for jobs, you would not have to report marijuana offenses.
If you're caught, you have to pay a $100 fine and that's about it. Good news for tax payers who will now save a great deal of money by forgoing the costly war on drugs, which is losing.
Again, it's not yet official, but things are looking like marijuana will be decriminalized in Massachusetts.
