Badger running back Lance Smith has been suspended for five away games following allegations that he beat his girlfriend, also a UW student.

Smith allegedly fought with his girlfriend over her share of a cab fare on July 14. Apparently he felt he was owed $10, while his girlfriend said she owed $5. After his girlfriend told him she would pay him later, she said he grabbed her by the neck and pushed her onto a mattress in the bedroom. The fight continued later that evening at a nearby convenience store, and ended when Smith allegedly took his girlfriend's shoes after striking her head on the sidewalk.

He was later suspended from the UW football team, but--surprise, surprise--Alvarez reinstated him in time for the first practice of the season.

After all, Smith just wanted his ten bucks. It's all about the Hamiltons, baby.
