Go Phillies!

Go Phillies!

Okay, this has nothing to do with anything Brown-related, but go Phillies!  I'm from Tarrs, Pennsylvania, a small town 45 minutes outside of Pittsburgh.  It's the other side of the state, but since the Pirates weren't playing, I had to represent for my home state.  The blow-out game on Sunday was amazing to watch, as the Phillies keep raking in the home runs, but the rained-out game was simply miserable to watch:  I wouldn't have wanted to be outside that weather, let alone swing wet bats and spitting extra water out of my face that leaked down from my weird plastic hat.  The wind was blowing the balls all over the place, the rain was so heavy it showed up on the camera and the pitcher's mound was a mud pit.  When what's-his-face stole those two bases, I was pissed, because stealing is bad... or is it?

But when Tampa Bay tied it up in the top of the 6th, I was happy.  It wouldn't have been all that great for Philly to win on a sort of technically and who wants to celebrate in all that rain?  With three and a half innings to go to finish it out, I knew Philly would take it, even as tensions rose when Tampa Bay managed to catch up with a tie.  I tried to do a search to see if anyone from Brown had ever gone on to be a Philly, but all I found was a newspaper headline from 1913 announcing that Snell had signed with Philadelphia.  Go Snell, but more importantly, go Phillies!

This is the first year I've ever watched baseball, formerly claiming an allergy to all things athletic.  My boyfriend, however, kept flipping to the games while he was at my house one night so I figured he'd better explain to me how it all works.  I got into it, even if the Red Sox lost that final game, and my guesses for scores and whatnot is so good that I really ought to bet money on the games next time around.  He took me to a little league game in Wyoming, but it was kinda of lame, as basically of the players sucked, but watching talented players?  That rocks.
