Things Learned While Studying Abroad

Most students choose to go abroad for the "cultural experience" -- eating new foods, learning another language, getting wildly drunk and having sex with foreign strangers in the name of diplomacy, etc.  One of the best ways to relate to the people in your new country is through music.  Despite all the negative things many foreigners think about the US, all of them unequivocally agree that the music we export is "cool" [the universal word for "cool", said with an accent] and the dancing that goes along with it even more so.  Knowing how to properly drop it like it's hot can win you both admirers and ass.

But what about music and dance you're unfamiliar with?  This is where you have to take your cues from others and copy their actions.  The music might suck and the dancing might mystify you.  Carry on, brave soul.  Although you may never fully master it like the natives, you can also comfort yourself in knowing you'll never look as stupid as them either.
