Happy Homecoming!
We came for the sports, right ? Well no, unless you, yourself, are an athlete. But Saturday was a day to be a little proud of our Maroons. Or at least acknowledge their existence.
The stands at Stag field, which only line the west side, were filled with fans: parents, alumni, students out for the free food and t-shirts. The fence was also lined with spectators and 56th St was crowded with tailgates and pedestrians gripping beers. Add a couple hundred more people and it could almost be a state school (although knowing this place, it would take more than increased mass). But our men did not disappoint, squashing Oberlin 33-7. You can actually wear your own jerseys (somewhat) proudly tonight at that themed Fiji party- nice work!
Soccer played Carnegie Mellon today and the women also had a solid victory winning of 3-0 but unfortunately the men lost 0-3. One can only assume that at Psi U tonight the ladies will be celebrating hard while the men drown their sorrows. You'll get 'em next time.
And beside the exciting domination of our football boys, the predictable success of our lovely soccer ladies and the less than top notch men's soccer performance, the weather put on quite a show with perfect temperatures- who knew October in Chicago could be so good? Unless you were in the Reg getting a head start on that problem set and then all I have to say is get yourself outside tomorrow!
