Poor Pope Benedict. First off, the guy is to be commended for making his trip to America and boldly dealing with the problem of sexual abuse in the American Church. He even was nice enough to lay off the anti-Iraq argument with Bush. Overall, a very nice guest. Many folks were happy to see the Pope deal so directly with the horrible abuse and to meet with the victims.

But the victims weren't happy. Some of them seemed to be kind of in a snit, actually. Apparently a visit from one of the world's most famous men isn't enough. "A visit doesn't make the pain go away," one victim said. Well, of course it doesn't. We can only imagine the continued pain of ANYONE who has been sexually abused---what a terrible thing to live with. But the point is, there are many sexually abused children who never get a visit from the Pope. And they still have to pick up and learn to live their lives again. 

What did the expect the Pope to do? Go back in time and reverse it? Aside from a meeting, there is not much he CAN do. Give the guy a break.
