Grade Inflation at MSU

Grade Inflation at MSU
MSU is now considering adopting a plus/minus system of distributing grades and determining GPAs. This is due to increased grade inflation at MSU that is reflected in trends nationwide.

Some students and faculty are worried about growing grade inflation. More and more students are making As and Bs than ever before, and some worry this means teachers are becoming too lenient or college is becoming too easy.

Other at MSU aren't so worried. They say many things could contribute to the rising grades, including better students, more motivation, new teaching methods and technologies, the Honors College, and the lenient drop policy that allows failing students to simply drop the class.

Either way, it is yet to be determined whether giving out a B+ and B- will radically affect the grade inflation at the college, but it is something faculty are considering.
