2009 Grammy Nominations Announced, Lil Wayne Nominated for 8 Awards

The 2009 Grammy Nominations are in and though certainly there are some serious duds (who even knew Jason Mraz still sold records?), the nominees were refreshingly not-just-appealing-to-tweens. Sure there was the unfortunate nomination of Josh Groban’s album Noel, but there was also a nod to M.I.A., with Paper Planes nominated for Record of the Year. And who ever thought the Grammy committee would nominate the daughter of a revolutionary Tamil militant whose music meanders the gamut between dancehall and electro-pop? Or that Lil Wayne would walk away with 8 nominations?
