As summer starts to set in and the temperature continues to rise, sizzling hot stars are coming to big cities near you. It’s time to ditch those lame hometown food festivals and get some real fun in your summer! This weekend is jam-packed with celebrity appearances and this is the place to find out where.

1. Paul F. Tompkins at the Comix – Looking for some laughs in the NYC area? Comedian Paul F. Tompkins (guest on VH1’s Best Week Ever) will be performing two acts tonight (Friday, May 30) and tomorrow night (Saturday, May 31) at the Comix. The first show of the night will begin at 8:30 followed by a second show at 10:45.

2. True Colors - If you’re in the Boston area this weekend, you’ll definitely want to check out the True Colors Concert featuring artists like Cyndi Lauper, Kat DeLuna and Regina Spektor. The True Colors Fund is raising awareness about discrimination towards the GLBT (gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender) community. The show is Saturday, May 31 at 6pm at the Bank of America Pavilion.

3. Filter at Ram’s Head Live – Can’t get enough of this 90s band? If you’re in Baltimore, Filter’s show is a must-see. The band, best known for songs like, “Take A Picture” and “Hey Man, Nice Shot,” is going on tour to promote their new album, “Anthem For The Damned.” Filter will be at the Ram’s Head Live on Monday, June 2 at 8pm.

4. John Waters at the Seattle International Film Festival – Any Hairspray fans looking to meet Mr. Waters himself in the Seattle area? Waters will be delivering a lecture followed by an ultra fabulous after-party at the W Hotel on Tuesday, June 3 at 7:30pm at the Seattle Symphony. If partying with Waters isn’t your kind of scene, you might also want to check out a SIFF film at the Egyptian Theatre with show times starting at 4:30pm all the way through midnight.

5. JK Rowling at Harvard – And finally, if you’re graduating from Harvard this week, you’re already ahead of the curve! JK Rowling, famous author of the “Harry Potter” series will be the commencement speaker for the graduation ceremony. This mother of three, has seen her fair share of downs before finally hitting the big time. Rowling will be sharing her story and offering her advice at the Harvard Commencement Ceremony on Thursday, June 5.
