Ok, are they gone? Phew. Anyway, since The Dark Knight's release, the internet has been teeming with rumors and astronomical hype about the villains for the sequel. Some of these rumors have legitimate weight to them (i.e.Johnny Depp as the Riddler) others are just fan fantasy casts gone wild (Phillip Seymour Hoffman as The Penguin? Paul Giamatti as the Mad Hatter? Or my favorite: Ellen Page as Harley Quinn... yummm).
Only to add fuel to the fire, Dark Knight villain Aaron Eckhart tells Comingsoon.net that he will not be reprising his role as Harvey "Two Face" Dent for the third Batman film.
Although The Dark Knight's plot made it opaquely evident Harvey died in the final scene (or at least that's what I got out of it) fans who beloved Eckhart's character swarmed the blogosphere with hopes of his survival . Eckhart sadly reports Harvey "Two Face" Dent is, according to a conversation with Dark Knight director Chris Nolan: "dead as a door nail."
Eckhart does not stop there. Before concluding the interview he delivers a delicious piece of hollywood dish: "I heard Angelina Jolie was going to be Catwoman or something like that. I thought that was a great idea. I'd like to be in that one."
Angelina Jolie? Catwoman? I say GROSS! What do you guys think? Give us your fantasy cast ideas for Batman 3!
Special thanks to "Supertim" Dillon for the tip.
