Alaska Supreme Court Okays Troopergate Report, Sarah Palin Freaks Out

Shit’s about to hit the fan. Thanks to an Alaska Supreme Court ruling, the report on Sarah Palin’s Troopergate situation will be released sometime today, according to the Anchorage Daily News.

Six Republican legislators had brought the case to court in order to block the investigation, claiming it wasn’t “fair and just.” However, the Supreme Court didn’t buy it, and now the world will finally learn what investigator Steve Branchflower discovered about Palin’s dismissal of the public safety commissioner Walt Monegan. The heart of the issue is whether Palin improperly pressured Monegan to fire a state trooper, who just so happened to be Palin’s sister’s ex-husband. Juicy.

Today’s report will supposedly shed some much needed light on this scandal. The New York Times gives us a peak into the shady dealings:

Ms. Palin has denied that anyone told Mr. Monegan to dismiss Trooper Wooten, or that the commissioner’s ouster had anything to do with him. But an examination of the case, based on interviews with Mr. Monegan and several top aides, indicates that, to a far greater degree than was previously known, the governor, her husband and her administration pressed the commissioner and his staff to get Trooper Wooten off the force, though without directly ordering it.

In all, the commissioner and his aides were contacted about Trooper Wooten three dozen times over 19 months by the governor, her husband and seven administration officials, interviews and documents show.

“To all of us, it was a campaign to get rid of him as a trooper and, at the very least, to smear the guy and give him a desk job somewhere,” said Kim Peterson, Mr. Monegan’s special assistant, who like several other aides spoke publicly about the matter for the first time.

I must admit the allegations seem plausible. Sarah Palin may not be the smartest tool in the Republican tool shed, but she certainly knows how to spread a good smear campaign.

Barack Obama will give tax breaks to people who make less then 250,000 dollars per year. Obama will get our country out of this mess in Iraq.

McCain and Palin have NO plan for the economy and NO plan to end the war in Iraq. McCain and Palin are no different then Bush and Cheney. A Republican is a Republican. I don''t trust McCain and Palin.

VOTE FOR BARACK OBAMA AND LETS GET A DEMOCRAT WIN IN NOVEMBER!

Good for trooper and a dad who was beaten by 4th class witches. Palin should resign or thrown out from office as punishment as these idiots forget that they have dads and brothers and husbands who are men and dads themselves. Posted 10/10/2008 9:24 PMReply

Actually it was a politically motivated report. It was a partial ruling. She did have the right to fire Monegan and the trooper received everything he was entitled to. Considering what the trooper did, he got off easy. Posted 10/10/2008 9:31 PMReply

Sarah Palin is an embarassment to the Republicans, and she couldn't have come along at a better time. Thank you Sarah for handing this election to the Democrats. This couldn't have worked out better. Can we finally get on with getting this country back on track now? Posted 10/10/2008 9:49 PMReply

Those of you who think this was politically motivated should know that this investigation started BEFORE SHE WAS PICKED FOR THE REPULSICAN VP CANDIDATE. Posted 10/11/2008 01:26 AMReply

Well the report is released and NO ONE is making a big deal out of it. What on earth is going on? She was found to be inappropriate and she lied. She answered this by saying on the news that she was glad the report exonerated her. Does she really think we are that stupid? And, where is the next question from the reporter? "Ms. Palin, according to the report from the supreme court you were NOT exonerated" What are your comments on their findings of guilt? Posted 10/12/2008 9:56 PMReply
