USC’s School of Cinematic Arts dropout Ron Howard is in the process of filming his next gem but not without a fight. The highly anticipated prequel to the bestselling novel-turned-movie, Angels and Demons, is in the midst of a very unfortunate filming plight. Angels and Demons, is the story of Harvard symbolist, Robert Langdon who’s on a quest to decipher the encrypted messages of secret societies within the Catholic Church. As Dan Brown's novel brought on many questions about the Catholic Church, the movie is intended to do the same which has church officials up in arms.

The crew is currently filming in Rome and they are engaged in a battle over whether filming can take place in two Roman churches including the church of Santa Maria della Vittoria. Because of its sequel’s controversy about Jesus Christ being married to Mary Magdalene and fathering children, the head honchos at the Vatican and Rome refuse to grant the cast permission to film inside the church. The scene that is causing such a ruckus depicts the graphic murders of two priests within the Church.

The film will star Tom Hanks as the main character, Robert Langdon opposite Ayelet Zurer and Ewan McGregor as the novel's other main characters. The movie is set to premiere in 2009 so be sure to look out for this talk-of-the-Church blockbuster!
