Archaeological Anthropology Professor Dies

William Sanders, a retired archaeology professor, died July 2 in State College after complications from a fall. "Sanders used an approach called "cultural ecology" to study the interactions of culture and environment in travels that took him to locales including Mexico, Guatemala and Honduras. He investigated the settlement patterns of rural areas and small villages, land use and ancient population patterns," The Associated Press detailed.

Sanders got both his undergraduate and graduate degrees in anthropology from Harvard University. Dying at the age of 82, Sanders accomplished a lot from serving in WWII and retiring as an Evan Pugh Professor, PSU's highest honor.
