Alabama State Holds Sister Big Bone Pageant

Recently, Alabama State University’s Omega Psi Phi Fraternity held its first ever Sister Big Bone Pageant.

Judged based on style, walk, charisma, and responses to questions, the eight plus-sized women varied in their understanding of the contest. Some believed it to be a joke, while others considered it an empowering new stance on beauty standards. The coordinator of the event, Leroy Rankin, audaciously proclaimed, “Plus size women are the latest trend.” I wasn’t aware that any kind of person can be a trend, but evidently idiots are also a longstanding trend.

Props to winner Amber Wallace, who told the Hornet Tribune, "I had a good time, and I left with some new friends. I believe everybody who participated is a winner. It took a lot of courage to be part of the show."
