At Penn, Mondays are the New Wednesdays

The other night, my roommate (let’s call her DanglingParticiple) came up with an amazing concept that I’ve dubbed the Four Night Break Theory. I thought I’d share it with all you partiers who may need a little pick-me-up by the time Sunday rolls around.

Just to set the scene, picture my roommate and I (DanglingParticiple and OxfordComma, respectively) talking with some friends last Monday evening. We were all dwelling over the fact that it was, sadly, not a Thursday night and that the only thing to lift our spirits was the prospect of Gossip Girl at 8 p.m.

Suddenly, DanglingParticiple had an epiphany: “Wait guys!” she exclaimed, “Our week is half-way over!”

Now, DanglingParticiple has said some funky things in the past (one of which being her theory that all people get overly-excited by guacamole…go figure), so we all sort of looked at her skeptically, urging her to go on.

“No, seriously,” she continued. And as it turns out, she was totally right. Consider the fact that many Penn students (my friends and I included) go out Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays (sometimes Wednesdays if they really need to blow off some steam). That being said, we have four nights “off”: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Therefore, by the time Monday night is over, we’ve already gone through half of our party-less nights; hence, our week is half over.

According to one of our friends, DanglingParticiple’s Four Night Break Theory has completely “changed her life.” I hope it can do the same for you.
