Listening to Soulja Boy’s song “Crank That (Soulja Boy)” once is torture enough, but over and over again? That’s cruel and unusual punishment. And so it is with great sympathy that I tell you that the Auburn Tigers’ trainer subjected the football team to the song on a continuous loop.
The musical torment was to serve as a reminder of Auburn’s loss to Georgia last year. During that game, the Bulldogs made the rapper’s song their anthem, dancing to it throughout the night. Auburn will be battling Georgia again this Saturday and the team is hoping for a less embarrassing outcome this time around.
“Crank That” certainly seemed to serve its motivating purpose. The Ledger-Enquirer gives us a player’s reaction:
"There won't be no more Soulja Boy," Auburn cornerback Walter McFadden said Tuesday. "That's all I can tell you... . We're getting tired of hearing people say 'Soulja Boy' and all that stuff. We're just trying to get that song out of our heads..."
Poor grammar aside, we’re with you Walter. Any song that makes white guys think they can dance is dangerous.
