These days, I can't help but notice that many schools have lost sight of the all American college scene. After all, isn't that what we all hoped for before attending this fine institution? You know, corridor bonding, sipping coffee aside a fire whilst discussing politics and current events, hot guys tossing a Frisbee on a perfectly manicured green patch of grass, and let us not forget, frat parties. The expectations have gone so far away from what made this country fall in love with a good old fashioned fraternity gathering. The recipe is a simple one: A big old house, the frat itself (preferably a group of good looking yet approachable guys), girls, and booze. Put all these factors together, and you don't really need anything else.
When: Saturday, August 23, 2008, 10 pm
Where: Tau House
The Appeal: The oldest frat on campus knows how to throw a great traditional frat party, complete with kegs, funnel, pong, flip cup, and the famous Tau Peppermint Patty Shots. It's the perfect place to start your night (or end it). Attention Freshman: If this is your first night out at college, this is the perfect party for you. It's a great time without the fear of being roofied or totally corrupted on your first night out.
The Cons: They definitely aren't the biggest frat on campus, and tend to have flown under the radar for the last few years. Even so, they still seem to get a lot of party goers. (The last party of last year was broken up by the police...twice. See Tau Island) It's not the closest to the bars, though it's definitely doable. I'd estimate a 15 minute walk. If you're drunk, you'll hardly notice, just try to wear comfortable shoes.
