Today, we turn our collective attention to the University of Texas at Dallas where one student was arrested for brutally slashing another with a knife.

John Shaffer, 20, was arrested last Friday after he admitted to police officers that he had slashed the throat of a woman who was on her way to the Engineering South building.

Presently, it’s unknown whether or not the attacker and victim knew one another, but given the nature of the assault, it’s a strong possibility that they did. After all, why would Shaffer select this woman seemingly at random?
