~~Mulder~~ David Duchovny, 48, has checked into rehab… for sex addiction. Really? David Duchovny?

It’s a delicious-life-imitating art moment considering Duchovny won a Golden Globe this year for playing a sex-obsessed womanizer on Showtime’s Californication.

The Princeton and Yale educated actor is married to Tea Leoni and the couple have a 9-year-old daughter and a 6-year-old son, reports E! Online. Duchovny has this to say for himself:

"I have voluntarily entered a facility for the treatment of sex addiction," Duchovny said in a statement released Thursday by his attorney, Stanton "Larry" Stein. "I ask for respect and privacy for my wife and children as we deal with this situation as a family."

Sounds like a case for the XXX-Files.
