Dressing like hobos to minimize sense of bourgeois guilt

Wearing crazy hats to distract from obvious wealth

Focusing on the petty, non-economic things, like breakups

Depicting imminent depression through funereal clothes

Keeping luxury items to undergarments like the million-dollar Victoria’s Secret bra set

Selling cheap clothes to plebian fans

Getting preggers to contribute laborers to the American workforce

Sneaking into clubs behind wife to avoid paying cover

Wearing sparkly clothes to cut down on electricity bill

Ignoring the recession by purchasing a car with complete obliviousness to fuel efficiency

During a recession, it can be tough being a celebrity. The whole being loaded thing can really become the proverbial elephant in the room when fans are getting laid off, working two jobs to pay the rent, etc. And so, now that the recession is official, it’s time to examine how celebrities deal with economic distress.
