Being a college-oriented website grants us the freedom to explore one facet of the lives of celebrities that often goes ignored: their academic careers. On paper, such a novel concept may appear wholly banal, bland and, to be perfectly frank, boring, but it’s actually quite entertaining to investigate which celebrities graduated from college and which ones flunked out.

Today, we kick off this sure-to-be long-running series with an in-depth look at a Hollywood up-and-comer: True Blood’s Deborah Ann Woll.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Woll, 25, graduated from the University of Southern California’s School of Theater where she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting. That’s no small feat, mind you, as the School of Theater is one of the most highly competitive institutions for acting in the country.

On the hit HBO series, Woll plays Jessica Hamby, a young, fiery-haired vampire with childlike naiveté and a thirst for – teenage romance. (You thought I was going to say blood, didn’t you?)

Unlike her fellow vampire brethren, Jessica spends most of her on-screen time on the show pining for Hoit and their troubled relationship. Of course, she often gets herself into trouble in the process – you know, accidentally killing truck drivers in a fit of rage. But, for the most part, her role on the show has remained fairly low key.

Still, Woll’s acting background has served her well, and she remains one of the best reasons to watch the show. If you haven’t started yet, I suggest you do.
