The University of Florida must now recognize a Christian fraternity thanks to a federal appeals court decision.
The school had originally denied recognition to Beta Upsilon Chi, also known as Brothers Under Christ (clever, see what they did there?), because it required its members to be Christian, which violates UF’s discrimination policies.
Other religious fraternities, such as AEPi, enjoy official recognition but they also do not exclude non-Jewish members.
I imagine what’s really going on here is that UF was trying to solidify its place as the #1 party school and they just didn’t think the brothers of BYX could contribute. But what they failed to remember is, Jesus turned water into wine. He could totally party with the best of ’em.
