Columbia's Field Hockey Team: An Undefeated Force to be Reckoned With

Last season, the Columbia Lions ended their Ivy League championship run in second place. It was a bitter pill to swallow for many fans, but the ladies of the field hockey team intend to make them proud this year by going all the way.

Heading into the start of the Ivy League season, the Columbia Lions are the only undefeated team in the Ancient Eight, and considering Brown’s paltry one and three record, that fact isn’t going to change during their game on Saturday.

The Columbia Spectator reports:

Columbia’s clutch offense and tight defense has been a group effort. Each game has been dominated by a different player, but won as a team effort. Sophomore Caitlin Mullins recently garnered Ivy League Player of the Week honors after her two timely goals in the second half of Sunday’s game put the Lions on top 3-2…

… A victory in Providence Saturday would make this season’s start the best in the team’s history. The last time the Light Blue was 3-0 was in 2000, and it won the ECAC championship that year.

Furthermore, the Lions have only once had a winning record in the Ivy League and have only twice had a winning record in a season.

In other words, if the Lady Lions can keep up their relentless pace, they will make collegiate history.

Roar! Lions! Roar!
