The biggest perk of being a Cornell student – aside from, you know, getting an Ivy League education – is having access to inexpensive, oftentimes free, film screenings at the Cornell Cinema.
Sure – other Ivy League schools, like Columbia, have a theater too, but they don’t offer quite as many options as Cornell’s.
According to the Ithaca Journal, here are the films set to kick start the fall semester:
- “Dr. Strangelove” — Playing Monday, Aug. 25 and Wednesday, Aug. 27.
- “Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown” — Sunday, Aug. 24 and Tuesday, Aug. 26.
- “Breathless” — Wednesday, Aug. 27; Monday, Sept. 1; Tuesday, Sept. 2.
- “Iron Man” — Thursday, Aug. 28; Friday, Aug. 29; Saturday, Aug. 30; Wednesday, Sept. 3; Friday, Sept. 5. Note: The Thursday showing is free.
- “Raiders of the Lost Ark” — Friday, Aug. 28; Sunday, Aug. 30.
- “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” — Saturday, Aug. 30; Sunday, Aug. 31; Thursday, Sept. 4.
- “Tropic Thunder” -- starts this week.
Impressive, especially Tropic Thunder, which received a glowing review on CollegeOTR.
Consider this a public service announcement, freshmen.
Enjoy your cheap movies while you can, because once you graduate, you'll be paying $12 like the rest of us.
