Cornell Engineering Student Dies in Car Crash

Graduation was a mere three months away for Evan Wade, a senior in the College of Engineering at Cornell University, but due to a car accident over the weekend, he will sadly never see that day.

According to the police report, Wade was driving his SUV along Mount Pleasant Road in Ithaca on Saturday morning when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a tree. He died on the scene, leaving his family and the entire Cornell community in shock over the loss.

The Cornell Daily Sun reports:

Wade was a senior in the College of Engineering and a member of the Naval ROTC. Originally from Williamsburg, Va., he is survived by his parents and two brothers, according to the University.

“Support meetings for the Cornell community are being coordinated through the campus crisis manager and the Dean of Students Office. More information about these meetings will be forthcoming,” stated Vice President for University Communications Thomas Bruce.

Our condolences go out to Wade’s family, friends and peers.

While his life was tragically cut short, he will be remembered by those whom he touched in his life as a kind-hearted, charismatic philanthropist.
