Dallas Cowboy Pacman Jones Assaults His Bodyguard, Learned Nothing at WVU

Maybe back when he played for the West Virginia University Mountaineers, Adam “Pacman” Jones got hit in the head one too many times. What else could explain his behavior Wednesday morning, when he started a fight— with his own bodyguard. Maybe they do it differently down south, but I’ve always thought that the point of a bodyguard was to guard their employer’s body, not to be forced into a position of guarding their own body from their employer.

The Dallas News reports:

According to Dallas police, Jones hit his bodyguard, Tommy Jones, at the Joule hotel. The bodyguard, police said, declined to press charges.

Deputy Chief Vince Golbeck, commander of the central patrol division, said officers were called to the Joule about 1:30 a.m. and were told there was a disturbance between Adam Jones and one of his security officers. Golbeck said officers believed Adam Jones was drinking…

Dallas police officers did write an incident report saying there were broken mirrors and a bill was not paid. The report did not mention Adam Jones' name. KTVT-TV (Channel 11) reported a police officer and a hotel security guard found the two men in a bathroom and had to separate them.

Pacman Jones may just have been itching for a bit of brawling after his failed Total Nonstop Action Wrestling career, but then again, his short-lived hip hop career didn’t leave him running around rapping compulsively. This isn’t the first time Jones has been caught tussling. In 2005 he was charged with assault and felony vandalism, in 2006 he was cited for spitting in the face of a female Tennessee State University student, and in 2007 was investigated for a shooting at a strip club in Las Vegas. Strap a bowtie on Pacman, and you’ve got yourself a gentleman.

If the priorities of this country were not so misplaced we would not tolerate this behavior. Until we recognize those who truly make valuable contributions to our society rather than low intelligence sports figures who are nothing but takers and a drain on society we will not extricate our unintelligent selves from the morass of stupidity.
