So are you as afraid as I am that the Dark Knight is somehow going to get shafted out of its "Best Picture" statue this year at the Oscars? If so, then head on over to DarkCampaign.com, which is the unofficial grassroots effort to get the film nominated, and to win. The video above is an incredibly well-done promo trailer for the film that explains why exactly it rocked everyone's ****ing socks off.
I'm not exactly sure how a "grassroots effort" goes about influencing the Oscars, but realistically, we all shouldn't be THAT worried. I mean, every other movie that was hyped to be an Oscar contender this year has fallen flat (most recently Australia and Frost/Nixon). Milk is the only one left standing, but that will probably just snag Sean Penn an Oscar, not the film itself.
Also, take a look back, blockbusters do win Oscars. Titanic won every award ever that year, as did Return of the King a few years back. I have faith the DK can pull it off. I'm hoping for at least best picture, best director and of course, a posthumous best supporting actor win.
