You can find just about anything on eBay… except Dante Knoxx’s soul. The 24-year-old British musician was banned from selling his soul on the website.
Apparently, selling your soul breaches one of the eBay’s policies. For some reason the company has something against selling anything not physical.
Not that Knoxx had a lot of bidders anyway. The “used” item had a starting bid of £25,000.50 which amounts to just over $38,000. However, with just two hours left on the auction before being pulled, there were no actual bidders.
But who wouldn’t want a little piece of the essence of Knox? It certainly came with some perks. The UK’s Metro reports:
The auction included a legal contract entitling the new soul's owner to a percentage of Mr Knoxx's income for the rest of his life, with a guaranteed minimum of £1,000 per year.
Another clause entitled the owner to 10% of any intellectual works of Paradigm.
He also pledged to write a full account of the soul's life within three years and the owner of his soul would also be entitled to 10% of his estate in his will.
Other clauses in the contract included sending the owner an annual report of his soul, and a birthday card on Mr Knoxx's birthday, as well as a promise to plant three trees a year.
A final clause also stated Mr Knoxx could buy back his soul for £100,000,000.
So don’t think of this as sacrilegious, just think of it as a wise investment... with a few trees thrown in on the side.
