Economy Screws Us Again, Causes Soda Price Hike At LSU

At LSU, you can raise our tuition but don’t you dare touch the price of our soft drinks.

For the first time in seven years, vending machines on campus are seeing a price hike. Thanks to the rise in food and gas prices, to get their soda fix, students are going to have to pony up an extra 25 cents. Now a refreshing, caffeine-filled drink will cost a whopping $1.25.

While the Contracted Auxiliary Services director, Jason Tolliver, claims he hasn’t received many complaints yet, students can’t be too pleased. Check out one students reaction in the Daily Reveille:

Lisa Haefner, studio art senior, recently walked to an on-campus vending machine with a one-dollar bill to buy her favorite drink, a Cherry Coca-Cola — only to find out she needed another quarter.

“I will [go back], but I won’t be happy about it,” Haefner said.

Of course, she’ll still be back. Well before Red Bull rocked our worlds, no student survived an all-nighter without a trusty Coca Cola by their side.
