Facebook Disables Burger King Whopper Sacrifice Application

Facebook Disables Burger King Whopper Sacrifice Application

In an effort to make everyone a wee bit heavier, Burger King launched a campaign last week titled “Whopper Sacrifice.”

The premise was simple: Sacrifice (unfriend) 10 people on Facebook for a free Whopper coupon. Considering the exorbitant number of superfluous friends we all have on Facebook, it was definitely a mouth-watering proposition that tested the bonds of our FB friendships.

Unfortunately, Facebook didn’t appreciate Burger King’s promotion, so they disabled the BK application that made it all possible.

No word yet on why Zuckerberg’s regime deemed it fit to rain on everyone’s proverbial parade, but one must assume that either wanted a piece of the monetary pie or saw it as overtly malicious to its users.

Fun fact: “Over the time that the Whopper Sacrifice campaign was live, 233,906 friends were sacrificed by Facebook users in the pursuit of a free Whopper.”
