Facebook Membership Now Growing by 600,000 a Day

The economy may be underwater, but at least someone’s doing well. Facebook membership is increasing nearly exponentially these days, with almost 600,000 new users a day. Yeah, that’s a lot.

A good 70% of the increase comes from outside the US, as social networking catches on around the globe. And the other 30% is from people finally realizing that you quite literally don’t exist in today’s society without a Facebook account.

Here are some fun facts courtesy of Inside Facebook:

13 million users update their statuses at least once each day
2.5 million users become fans of Pages each day
700 million photos are uploaded to the site each month
4 million videos are uploaded each month
15 million pieces of content (web links, news stories, blog posts, notes, photos, etc.) are shared each month
2 million events created each month
19 million active groups exist on the site

So how many people think that Facebook is secretly run by the government and is being used to spy on us?
