Facebook Moving Into Stanford's Turf

Facebook Moving Into Stanford's Turf

According to Palo Alto Online, Facebook is moving its headquarters from sunny, beautiful downtown Palo Alto to a dreary, dull section of Stanford Research Park, whose name alone is enough to put one into a catatonic coma.

To accommodate its rapid growth [Facebook] will move to 1601 California Ave. — a roughly eight-and-a-half-acre, 152,000-square-foot site — in the first quarter of 2009, Facebook spokesperson Debbie Frost said in e-mail statements…

The new site is a former Hewlett-Packard (HP) building later occupied by HP's instruments-manufacturing spin-off, Agilent. The site is slated for eventual conversion to housing under a 2005 agreement between the city and Stanford University.

In other words, don’t get too comfortable, Mr. Zuckerberg, because your office will eventually become someone’s apartment, courtesy of Stanford’s Board of Trustees.

Stanford sticks it to Harvard, Zuckerberg’s alma mater, yet again.
