Men Get Fem: Male Birth Control to Hit Shelves

Men Get Fem: Male Birth Control to Hit Shelves
There is a possibility of boobies, but don't worry it's the sexy kind.If you did get moobs (man boobs for those who can't catch on), then you could do cool tricks for your friends. I approve!!Best of all, the weight gain from the hormones is mostly in muscle mass. No more whey protein shakes (seriously, if I see another fat GNC canister of powdered protein in a guy's room I am going to hurl).Take the pill!!! Your bra burning mothers would be proud. Can a meathead like this, be responsible enough to take birth control?
As gender roles continue to bend in all directions, we seen the following:
Bust Magazine reported on "Faux Queens" (women dressed as drag queens)
 * A man who is biologically/genetically a female get pregnant (did ya ctach the segment on Oprah?)
* Gay couples (without marriage rights) getting surrogate mothers to assist them in building homo-friendly families.

And now?
Men will have an even greater responsibility than the thin layer of latex affords them.

In the next year, male birth control should be available for public consumption. In addition to the oral contraceptive that is already in the works, there will be dude patches, gels, and an injection.

For college guys who aren't trying to snip the tube, these new wave of semi-permanent birth control methods may be more foolproof then a vasectomy.

What's prevented these marvelous wonders from hitting pharmacy shelves sooner?
In a word, men have been birth-control pu$$ies:

They aren't willing to take hormones.
They have an aversion to needles.
A trip to the physician is too time-consuming.
Most often, they just can't see themselves buying birth control at all.

Anyone else think these excuses are LAME?

Get it together, guys.  If chicks can deal with bleeding every month, I am pretty sure a guy can get used to taking some damned birth control!

Then again...

When was the last time he actually had condoms?
**Dreamy, wishful thinking**

The reason why male birth control hasn't caught on is that there is no way to prove that a guy is on it. A girl is the one at risk, so they know whether or not they are on it, so if they don't want to use condoms its all up to them. There really is no way for guys to convince a girl that they are on it, so they are more likely going to have to wear a condom anyways, paying for twice the amount of birth control. So it's not in their best interest to waste the time and money male birth control involves. Posted 05/12/2008 1:06 PMReply

You know, this really has nothing to do with Michigan, so why tag it as such? No one particularly cares about any of your "musings" so why shove them down our throats? Posted 05/13/2008 11:21 PMReply

Because guys don't care if they knock a girl up. They can just push them down the stairs and problem solved. Posted 05/21/2008 5:11 PMReply

The reason it hasnt caught on is NOT b/c there is no way to prove that a guy is on it. You cant prove that a girl is on the pill either. The fact remains that condoms are most effective way to prevent transfer of an STD so you're better off using a pill in a committed relationship and save the condoms for the strangers at the bar/club (even IF you're on the pill).
