Chris Mims was found dead in his apartment this morning. Police discovered the 38-year-old former San Diego Chargers defensive lineman while on a welfare check. Although the cause of death is unknown, there doesn’t seem to be any sign of foul play.
 

Mims was on the football team at the University of Tennessee and was drafted 23rd overall in 1992. He played for the Chargers for seven years, punctuated by only one brief season with the Washington Redskins. After 42 sacks in 104 career games, Mims retired from the NFL in 2000.
 

Recently, the footballer had suffered from weight and medical problems, according to Officer April Harding of the Los Angeles Police Department.
