Since Helen of Troy we’ve known that nothing can catalyze an all-out war like a beautiful woman, since a beautiful woman is obviously a territory worth guarding. Now rumors are floating that at FSU a woman (or chauvinistic possessiveness of one) has started a battle between the FSU football team and the Phi Beta Sigma frat. According to recent blog entries, the frat and football team got heated at a bar near the school’s anthropology department building and a bowling alley.

More details are floating in about the battle royale between members of the Florida State football team and the Phi Beta Sigma fraternity and if they turn out to be true ... they are amazing. The Seminole fan blog I Bleed Garnet and Gold has what is reported to be an eyewitness account of the proceedings and this was not your typical 3 o'clock schoolyard shoving match. Unless your school used WWE-style hardcore tactics and face stabbings.

“Well, it all started on {last week} Thursday when they started fighting at Floyd’s over some girl. Then yesterday at the union, a group of WR’s jumped the sigmas in the union. It turned into an all out brawl. The Sigmas were getting dragged up the stairs of Moore Auditorium and thrown through tables.

Someone got stabbed in the face with a pencil. A girl trying to split up the fight got punched in the face and another girl was hit in the face with a chair because a Sigma threw a chair at [WR Corey] Surrency and he ducked."

With pencils, fists, and chairs flying at faces, the Phi Beta Sigma-football team fight is no joke. This is what we call a civil war.
