The stereotype is ages old. When girls get angry, they ignore each other and spread rumors. When guys get angry, they beat the living hell out of each other. Well as we know, all stereotypes are meant to be disproven with scientific studies, and mark this one debunked by a team of researchers from the Universities of Kansas, Arizona and UNC Chapel Hill.
The study of 148 children and teens showed that guys were just as likely to use forms of social aggression as girls, such as gossiping, name-calling, etc., as opposed to overtly physical aggression. This has prompted calls for increased preventative measures corralling social shaming among boys, when it was previously thought, if they weren’t duking it out, everything was fine.
Well, I speak on behalf of all males when I say I’m hurt. I’m much more than a muscle bound punching machine, I have feelings too! When Jason Jackson told everyone that my shirt was ugly, it really go to me OK?! *sniff*
