Ah, New Years Eve, the night when frivolous resolutions are made by some and ample quantities of champagne are consumed by all.

One year ago, you swore you’d slim down to a size 3, but instead you ballooned up to a 12; you vowed you’d find the “one” and live happily ever after, but instead you spent the twelve months alone and/or heartbroken; you promised you’d stop smoking, but instead you picked up puffing cigars.

That all said, don’t dwell on the shortcomings of 2008 tonight. Instead, look towards a brighter future, enjoy the company of your friends and family, and remember all the good times.

2009 will be the year of change (not an Obama plug); things will be different.
